Lady Gaga - Scheiße (Guena LG Club Remix)
Honestly, I thought that album version of Scheiße was all I ever needed to hear, but this remix is honestly so much fun. There’s never a moment where I get bored.
For all of its dark, heavy themes, so many tracks from Born This Way are summer songs for me, and listening to them now just doesn’t evoke the same emotions as before.
Lady Gaga - Marry The Night (Live on X-Factor UK)
Okay, so I normally just enjoy performances like these and keep my comments to myself, but I’m really intrigued by some of the elements that are going on here, and just wanted to have my input.
Marry The Night is going to be the fifth single from the album, and, if I’m correct, is going to be sent to radio within the next week. The music video for Marry The Night was shot in NYC in the middle of October, and Gaga tweeted recently that the video will be her longest to-date. Her longest thus far is Telephone, which clocked in at about nine-and-a-half minutes.
Anyway, I think significant elements in this performance are the beheaded figure embracing her in the first outfit, and the very last movement that she does. From what I’ve seen of the video so far, it seems like the plot is going to be very autobiographical, and relates somehow to her childhood (“The beginning of the story I never told you.” “It’s not that I’ve been dishonest, it’s just that I loathe reality.”). I follow someone who theorized that part of the video would relate to Joanne Germanotta, Gaga’s aunt who passed away at the age of nineteen from lupus, and whom Gaga has spoken about “feeling a strong connection to.”
Connecting some dots on my own, perhaps the headless figure represents Joanne, and how Gaga feels as if she’s being watched over by Joanne.
And the very final move (4:29, hard to see because of the editing) differs from the performance at the EMAs, which featured a lunar theme and finished with Gaga flashing her butt. The move in this performance reminds me of a piece of choreography that a group on America’s Best Dance Crew did to Bad Romance (0:54) where the dancers mimicked a beheading. It could be a coincidence, or a very intentional connection, but since I don’t know, I can hardly theorize on its significance.
But either way, it would be really freakin’ cool if I interpreting this correctly.
Which I’m probably not.
Oh well.
Ooo-oo-oh oh-ooh oo-oo-ooh who-oo-ohh, have we met Oliver?
The lyrics to Heavy Metal Lover are actually nonsense…?
“Why river with a pair, let’s have a full house of leather.”
Also, in other project news, our assignment this week in music production was to edit a song of our choice into a 30- to 60-second clip. This is my shortened version of Scheiße.
Spencer gets his shirt, Gaga tweets her approval.
I was just sorting through old artwork from when I was little, and, I kid you not, I am not surprised at all that I’m gay. In a particularly prescient piece, I even drew a rainbow-striped unicorn with a flowing purple mane.
Ooh, there ain’t no other way. Baby, I was born this way.
“Born This Way” is an anagram for “thy rainbows.”
Fitting.
