This actually looks lovely. Almost nicer than when it was fresh.
Anyway, I’m still laughing over how controversial people are making this dress. PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk commented on the dress after Gaga wore it to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, saying, “Meat is the decomposing flesh of an abused animal who didn’t want to die, and after being under the TV lights it would smell like the rotting flesh that it is and likely be crawling with maggots. Not too attractive, really.”
Well, yes. Obviously. The dress was part of a performance art piece. It was intended to be grotesque. It was a statement on the present condition of human rights in the United States, and I have little doubt that Gaga, Formichetti, and Fernandez had in mind the state of the animal from which it came.
