I just read a joint review of Lady Gaga’s Telephone video and the movie Kick-Ass (found here), in which the reviewer points out their similar qualities side-by-side and in the end expresses a disparaging opinion of both (“Despite gleeful pop-culture surfaces, Kick-Ass and “Telephone” are both cruel and ugly.”).
Now, I personally haven’t seen Kick-Ass, but 1) it doesn’t seem to be my taste in movies, and 2) I find it unlikely that the whole film is a commentary on the overstimulation and lack of subtlety in American culture today.
However, since that is exactly the thesis of the Telephone video, I can’t help but feel like the reviewer missed the point entirely.
Lady Gaga feat. Beyonce - Telephone (Slowed Down 800%)
This is very zen until about 4:20, when it takes a turn for the scary.
Things I have thought in the past two days:
- Mm-mm, Honey B.
- I want your whiskey mouth all over my blonde South.
- If I said I want your body now, would you hold it against me?
I need help.
For some reason
The last few times I’ve seen a random attractive person in public
I think to myself
“Mm-mm, Honey B.”
